Soundwalk Collective

[INT]

Soundwalk Collective is an international art collective based both in New York City and Berlin. Since the year 2000, they have been sonic nomads, exploring and documenting places from the desolation of the Rub’ al Khali to the coasts of the Black Sea.

Created by Stephan Crasneanscki, and comprised of Simone Merli and Kamran Sadeghi, the Collective’s recent installations and performances have been shown internationally at numerous spaces such as Centre Georges Pompidou (Paris), Crossing The Line Festival (New York City), Berghain and Volksbühne (Berlin), just recently also featuring rock icon Patti Smith in their live homage to Nico. "Killer Road.”

Soundwalk Collective's live performances are diverse and often site- and venue-specific. They use a combination of self made vinyl records with multiple turntables, tape machines, or custom designed modular synthesizers. Although sound and music are the primary forces in the live setting, video projection specific to each piece contributes as well to the unique environment of the performance. The Collective strives for aesthetic intimacy through the power of performance.
